The book I decided to read was "11 Rings: The Soul of Success" by Phil Jackson. I really enjoyed this book since I am very into sports and proffesional coaches. Phil Jackson is probably one of or is the best coach in NBA History. But his way of coaching is very different then most would expect. In the book there are many different quotes that Phil uses. He explained the theories he has for coaching, leadership, and teamwork. After reading this its amazing how Phil's mind is so amazing and all the little things he does that help out in the long run. One of my favorite parts of the book was when he was talking about the similarities of a winning sports team and a tight knit military unit. He talks about the comparison between the two and how playing basketball is not the same as being willing to smother a live grenade to save a comrade's life, but that the best teams, in a way develop that trust and love for each other. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested not only in basketball but also interested in building a family, teamwork, people skills or leadership skills should read this book.
Dear Future Self,
Way to go! I hope that this year you did not only lear a lot but also learned a lot about yourself. I know you are a very hard worker and you should always take that with you wherever you go. You are almost done with your journey throughout High School but don't slack off. Senior year is your big year when you apply to all those wonderful colleges. One thing I also want to remind you about is even if you don't like reflection on yourself and the work that you've done its always important to take a step back and reflect on everything you've done. Lastly I would just want to tell you to never give up and follow your dreams. Gabriel P.S. "Don't give up...... unless your dreams is stupid" -Journey (Kid President) "Free Write: Taking your Audience" Being able to give a good presentation in front of people is a very good skill to have. This skill will be will us for the rest of our lives. In class we watched a video about giving presentations and what good presenters do while giving presentations. The video kept talking about a picture of two boxes and an arrow in-between pointing to the box on the right. This first box is where the people are before you start the presentations and the box on the left is where you want them to be at the end of the presentation. The two boxes symbolize how you can't force people to think a certain way or believe something but instead you have to take the people on a journey throughout your presentation in a way where they will learn something new.
On the very first day of school we were given an assignment to write 6-word memoirs about anything we wanted. The hardest part is that your memoir could only be 6 words no more no less. Trying to figure out memoirs that described you but were only 6 words long was pretty difficult. After a while of thinking these are a few that I came up with: How bad do you want it
